At SOUNDRAW, we’re always excited to hear how our tools help artists unlock their creativity. Today, we're thrilled to share the story of Emmy, a gifted music producer whose diverse background and passion for music have led her on a remarkable journey. Emmy has seamlessly blended her Latino roots with modern hip-hop elements, using SOUNDRAW to push past creative blocks and explore new sonic territories. Here’s her story in her own words.

My Musical Journey

I was born in Cotui,  Dominican Republic. When I was 3, my parents and I moved to New York. We moved around a lot but always ended up back in New York. To be honest, I’ve always wanted to make music but I didn’t really know how to go about it.

I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I tried the trumpet in 6th grade, but it didn't work. Tried writing music in English, horrible!! But somehow through all my mess-ups, I had support from the people around me.

Growing up, my mother would sing and always play different types of music in the house, but it was artists like Sandro, Marco Antonio Solís and Ana Gabriel who influenced the way I write my lyrics. If you listen to the music people are making now, not much has meaning or makes sense so I like to tell stories like they did.

A good 95% of the time my music is about me and something I experienced or something I have witnessed happen with the people and the world around me. Who made me get into it though? My cousin's boyfriend, Manny, is an amazing Engineer / AR.

From the moment I told him to make music, he took it upon himself to guide me in the right direction. A few months after trying I was working in a music studio where I met my best mate and main producer Chino TURN ME UP who is responsible for helping me discover my sound.

Discovering SOUNDRAW

I first heard about SOUNDRAW from my team. I was in a listening session with my manager Ro , CHINO TMU, and Kezdiddier putting the finishing touches on our project UNTITL3D EP. When I realized the project was missing something. That’s when Ro brought up SOUNDRAW.

Learning how to use SOUNDRAW was super quick and super easy - SOUNDRAW just happened to have exactly what we needed.  Because of SOUNDRAW, I was able to learn how to properly use musical terms and explain to my producers what I was looking for with more clarity.

It's like having a musical sketchpad where I can experiment with different sounds and ideas. For me, it was a game-changer because it allowed me to dive into the creative process right away.

Creating the "Untitl3d EP" with SOUNDRAW

One of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on using SOUNDRAW was my “Untitl3d EP,” which is now available on YouTube. SOUNDRAW was instrumental in bringing this project to life. The beats provided by SOUNDRAW served as the foundation for my EP, sparking inspiration and guiding the direction of my music.

We used SOUNDRAW to find different sounds and styles for the EP. Once we got that out the way, Chino and Kez took it from there and magic was made. The amazing part was the fact that you can create anything you’re feeling. You just have to click the genre and mood to have access to thousands of beats that match your needs.

Using SOUNDRAW allowed me to explore sounds I wasn’t familiar with. I was able to blend my Latino roots with hip-hop influences by playing around with the variety of beats and stems available on the platform. This fusion of styles was something I hadn’t fully explored before, and SOUNDRAW made it possible.

Overcoming Challenges with SOUNDRAW

As an artist, one of my biggest challenges is getting stuck in the creative process. It’s tough to find producers, and sometimes that can stall my progress. SOUNDRAW provided an outlet that kept my creativity flowing, even when I didn’t have the full production knowledge. It was like having a co-producer that helped me break through writer’s block and continue making music.

SOUNDRAW also streamlined my workflow. Instead of spending hours trying to come up with a beat from scratch, I could use the beats on SOUNDRAW as a starting point and focus on what I do best—writing and performing. It made the entire process more efficient and enjoyable.

Tips for Other SOUNDRAW Users

For anyone new to SOUNDRAW, my advice is to take the time to get familiar with the program. At first, it might seem overwhelming, but as you start using the interface, it becomes much easier to navigate. The more you use it, the more comfortable you’ll become.

To really maximize SOUNDRAW’s potential, I recommend collaborating with someone who has some production background. Having that additional perspective can help you unlock even more creative possibilities and make the most of what SOUNDRAW has to offer.

Thoughts on the Future of SOUNDRAW

There’s so much potential in SOUNDRAW, and I’m excited to see how it evolves. One thing I’d love to see is more frequent updates to the sounds available. Sometimes, it’s hard to find the right key for the beats, especially when working with autotune, so improvements in that area would be great.

Looking ahead, I believe SOUNDRAW could really make an impact by connecting with communities of hungry creatives.
